Great sleeping! December 4, 2008 I bought two of these pillows and have been using them for 2 months. The support is much better than a standard pillow. I have gone through 4 pillows in the last 4 years and decided to try these. They are wonderful. Some people may not like the fact that you can hear water sloshing back and forth when you move the pillow but you can push most of the air out. Very worthwhile if you are a chiropractic patient.
Tried all types of pillows - this is the BEST! August 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have tried all different types of pillows and usually between 3-6 mo. they are not comfortable anymore - always getting flattened or compressed on the bottom where my neck rests where no amount of fluffing can fully revive them. With this water pillow, my neck is now constantly supported. While it is topped with a cushy layer of fiber fill, it is impossible for the the "water area" to be compressed or flattened like a regular pillow.
I've had this pillow for well over a year and haven't had any problems with having to refill it like others have claimed (I wonder if they are imagining it - there is no way for the water to evoporate inside the chamber and if it leaked, surely they would have noticed). While it is a bit heavy when filled - I actually like it that way. Because of the wieght, it can be propped up to support my head if I want to read or watch TV in bed if am too lazy to get up and grab one of my euro-sized pillows to prop me up for that purpose. Also, as for the others who claim they can hear it slosh or have other problems I feel in many cases it's due to not properly reading the instructions and making sure to push all the air out of the water chamber before capping the plug.
The only tiresome part of this pillow was initially trying to figure out how much water suited me when I first received it. It took a little bit of trial and error: I'd fill it with water a little bit - run and lay down on it - fill it a little bit more - lay on it again - take a little out, etc. But once you finally get it perfect (like your perfect number on a Sleep Number bed) you will always know how many ounces of water to put in when you drain it to wash it in the machine. Try it - you won't be disappointed!
Pillow Sags in the Middle July 18, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought one of these pillows a couple of years ago and was happy with it for a while. Then, I began to notice that it was sagging in the middle. I filled it with water to the maximum level hoping that would do the trick but it didn't. I even opened up a seam and tried to stuff some additional polyfil into the pillow but this just made it lumpy. I finally wrote to the Mediflow folks and asked them how I could get rid of the sag. After two months of no word I received a response telling me to send the cap to the company and they would send me a new pillow.
I sent back the cap and eventually received a new pillow. I filled this one to the max and after a few weeks noticed that this pillow had also developed a sag in the middle. Now, I am mostly a side sleeper so a saggy middle means I have to pound the pillow or re-shape it to create space for me to breathe. Very annoying, especially to my husband.
I read all the reviews before and after my purchase and no one has mentioned this sagging problem. Maybe it's just me and the way I sleep. I still use the pillow but am not happy with it, especially since it weighs a ton filled with all that water.
stiff neck April 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After reading all the reviews for this pillow, I was sure I would be one of the ones who loved it. Boy was I wrong. I like/need a pillow that is fluffy and supports my neck. This pillow turns out to be flat and makes my neck hurt to the point that I am waking up with headaches every morning. I can't bring myself to buy another pillow since I paid so much for this one. Did I mention the weight? It weighs a ton due to the water (I have played around with different amounts of water to determine the most comfortable amount). I am very unhappy with this pillow, but I think it is just my personal preference. I would not recommend this pillow unless you like a relatively flat pillow (and like to hear sloshing water all night).
water pillow? yes! February 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Had tried another non-water orthopedic pillow, but it did not help. Read about the water pillow, and tried it. First night, noticed comfort and relief of neck and back stress. You open the package, and fill a pouch on the pillow with water. They suggest medium full, but for an adult male it is not firm enough. I tried filling it to firm setting and it worked well. The gentle support helps relieve stress, and the cushion effect is like that of a water bed. Takes standard size pillow covers.
