I just got this for a Mother's day gift. It arrived in good shape with all the things needed for starting it up. The basin is well sized and can hold probably 8-9 pounds of wax, if you wanted to. I think the extra capacity is for sticking your foot in it, though. I don't recommend adding more wax than the 6 pounds it comes with. Clear and simple instructions, solid base, thick electrical cord. This thing looks like it is built for professional use, but with a home use price. My girlfriend uses it daily and raves about it. I just ordered another one for her mom.
I know it didn't come with it, but I think it would be wise to order the mitts to keep the heat in, if you wanted that. I'm a cheapo and figure they can get their own mitts!
