I originally wanted to make these cupcakes from scratch, but as I was shopping around the grocery store, I realized the ingredients were adding up to almost $30. I turned down an aisle looking for flour, and found this box of cupcake mix instead. Oh my gosh, best decision I've ever made. These are hands down the best cupcakes I've ever had-and you can't tell they were made from a box. It does make more than 12 cupcakes though, but luckily there's enough icing to cover the extra!

Easy to make and absolutely delicious! I was delighted with how perfectly both the cake and frosting turned out. I tend not to like some "scratch" cake recipes; these very high-quality mixes get everything right and taste fresh, pure, and homemade. Raves from everyone who tried them. It's true that this mix makes a little more batter than will fit in your cupcake tins. So don't overfill the cups - either make extra cupcakes or eat the leftover batter! Seriously, the batter is a dessert unto itself, like a rich chocolate pudding. I was stunned when I tasted it. Maybe the extra mix is included because sneaking generous samples out of the bowl is irresistible.

I have purchased many Contessa items and loved them, but not this one! The mix says 12 cupcakes and to fill to the top- the overflowed in my oven and took an extra 15 minutes to cook! They were still not done well, and I gave up and tossed them without making the frosting!
