Product Description
There was a real Dr.Scholl! William Mathias Scholl, MD, was born in 1882. He left the farm at age 16 to apprentice in a shoemaker's shop, where he noted the number of customers who complained of foot pain and discomfort. Intrigued by the ailments of the foot, he attended Illinois Medical College, now Loyola University, and earned his M.D. degree in 1904. He never practiced medicine; but over the next fifty years, he built a great corporation out of the simple belief that "when your feet hurt, you hurt all over." The belief mimic'd the concept of Reflexology that Asian medicine believed for many centuries. While creating one of the world's best-known brand names and a truly global company, Dr. Scholl realized that his good fortune could be used to aid others. In 1947 he turned financial success into magnanimous charity by creating the Dr. Scholl Foundation. Dr. Scholl died on March 29, 1968, leaving the bulk of his estate to the foundation.

3 out of 5 stars You Know What They Say About Assuming...   December 14, 2009

First of all, my girlfriend loves this thing. However, I paid extra for the latest version because I assumed they had fixed the problems with the previous models. I, of course, was wrong.

One problem was that it leaks; the carpet under the back two feet were soaked with water after the foot bath was complete. (The fill-line is extremely light and hard to see which would explain the leak and that I had just overfilled it, though I assure you it the water was below the line) We have to remember to put a towel underneath it to remedy this. Not too big of a problem but still a nuisance.

The second problem was the water did not stay hot (as advertised). I had filled the tub with almost scalding hot water and 15 minutes later it was luke warm. It could be a good thing to notify when the feet are done soaking, however...

The third problem (which is pretty minor) is there is a place to put in your bath salts that helps dissolve it into the water. This is a nice feature but you need a funnel or your hand to fill this cup with the salts, it's extremely misplaced.

Even with these few problems, my girlfriend loves using this thing. It's got a nice foot scrub that really softens her feet. She also likes the bubbles...
